Nebraska to Zambia: HIV/AIDS in Africa
One issue we wanted to feature in our research project was the human impact of HIV/AIDS. We sent a team from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications and a team from Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) to Zambia, Africa during the summer of 2009 to document the human story of HIV/AIDS.
Further, we sought to establish a relationship between UNL's College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the University of Zambia's School of Mass Communications. This relationship further cements the partnership between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Zambia beyond the work that Dr. Charles Wood is doing on HIV and HHV8 research at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka. The Red Elephant Documentary and the photogrpahs of Zambia help tell the human story of the HIV/ AIDS epidemic. It is our hope that our work fosters awarness about this important world issue.
