Dr. Tony Sambol

Tony Sambol is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the department of Pathology and Microbiology and the Assistant Director of the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), where he also coordinates the Special Pathogens & Biosecurity Laboratory sections. His duties include that of Laboratory Program Advisor and Bioterrorism Laboratory Coordinator for the NPHL and as such, he is responsible for setting up and establishing the NPHL's testing capability for agents of bioterrorism and is involved in the establishment of a statewide laboratory network to improve the state's public health infrastructure. In 2001, he was instrumental in coordinating the nationwide laboratory testing of specimens from the postal facilities for Anthrax contamination.
