Meet the Participants
Belita Kalala
Graduate Student
University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Belita Kalala works at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is responsible for operating equipment for distance education classes. She plans to begin a Masters Program in Education at UNL this fall. Originally from Zambia, Central South Africa, Belita can provide a first-hand account of how the HIV/AIDS pandemic has affected her family and friends, and will contribute her knowledge as a Zambian liaison for the project.
Belita received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Zambia-Lusaka. She recently graduated from UNL with a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. In addition, she spends time at Nebraska Educational Television (NET) as an intern and recently completed a short film, Their Zambian Story, about the experiences of three UNL students who visited the country. She is assisting NET on the production of another documentary, Hearts of Zambia, which focuses on the impact of HIV/AIDS in Zambia.
