I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mississippi Valley State University,located in the heart of the Mississippi Delta region. I then graduated from the University of Mississippi (aka Ole Miss) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Being the oldest and only child of five to attain a high school diploma and college degrees, I decided to become a teacher. I am currently part of the Nebraska's Transition to teaching program (through the University of Nebraska-Kearney) which helps non-educational majors attain teachers' certificates through the state of Nebraska. Furthermore, I am working towards an on-line Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Outside of teaching, I enjoy scrapbooking, cooking, travelling, shopping, reading, and playing board games.

What are your reflections about using media in education?

Working in an alternative school setting, I feel that it is imperative to incorporate media in the classroom, especially the science classroom. Students in this setting should be exposed to the different media. Media integration allows students' educational experiences to be interactive and hands-on.

What is one thing about the Omaha Science Media Project that you'd share with other teachers?

Other teachers should know that the Omaha Science Media project is a way of providing a bridge, allowing media and teachnology to reach science and journalism classrooms.
